Dr. Charles A. Backman
Dr. Backman received his dental degree from the University of Michigan in Ann Arbor. He then moved to Seattle to spend a year in a hospital dental residency. This was followed by two years of postgraduate training in endodontics at the University of Washington.
Dr. Backman is currently an Associate Clinical Professor at the University of Washington and teaches part-time. He also is a diplomat of the American Board of Endodontics.
Dr. Allen Colic
Dr. Colic grew up in Canada before attending Case School of Dental Medicine in Cleveland, Ohio where he earned his D.D.S. degree. He continued his training at Case in the Department of Endodontics where he received his certificate and M.S.D. in endodontics. Shortly after the residency he relocated to Seattle where he joined Endodontics Northwest in 2005.
Dr. Colic is currently an Associate Clinical Professor at the University of Washington.
Dr. Jiten Patel
Originally from London, England, Dr. Patel relocated to the U.S. to pursue his higher education. Upon graduation from Creighton University School of Dental Medicine, where he earned his D.D.S., Dr. Patel continued his training at Case School of Dental Medicine where he received his certificate and M.S.D. in endodontics.
Dr. Patel practiced in Chicago for four years prior to joining Endodontics Northwest.
Dr. Maryam Aminian
Attended the University of Washington as an undergraduate, majoring in biology. In 1992 she completed her DDS from UW.
Dr. Aminian practiced general dentistry in Seattle for four years before attending Boston University for graduate training in Endodontics. In 1999 she received both her certificate in Endodontics and completed her Masters thesis, based on the inhibition of bone growth due to chronic inflammation. While in the specialty program, Maryam met her husband Fred, a periodontist. They moved to Seattle in the Fall of 1999 and now have two children.
Maryam has served as vice-president of the Washington State Association of Endodontists. She has been an associate clinical professor in the Endodontic department at the University of Washington. Maryam is fluent in three languages, and enjoys traveling, skiing and reading.
Dr. Kristopher Sophiea
Attended the University of Michigan to obtain a BS in Brain Behavior and Cognition. He then continued studies at of M School of Dentistry to complete his D.D.S. in 2010. Following graduation, Dr. Sophiea moved to the Pacific Northwest and practiced general dentistry in Redmond, WA for four years. He then pursued a Postgraduate Endodontics Program at the University of California, San Francisco.
In his free time he takes pleasure in travel, photography and volunteering around the world. He also enjoys scuba diving, skiing, climbing and trail running.
Dr. Sophiea is a member of the American Association of Endodontics, the Washington State Association of Endodontics, the American Dental Association, the Washington State Dental Society, and the Seattle King County Dental Society. In addition, he makes it a priority to increase his knowledge in his field by attending continuing education courses and study clubs throughout the year.
